Fly Disney

Back from the trip to the great southland and driving the nasty ribbon of road, I5. I was mildly bummed as we passed Harris Ranch and saw one of the 172's that I have rented parked on the grass. Meanwhile I had another three hours of driving ahead. Wah, just wah.

Anyway, I haven't been to the land of the mouse in twenty or so years. Some things haven't changed; it's still a small world after all..., mansion is still haunted, teacups spinning, Main Street ice cream. Some things have changed ; Friendly Pirates, Friendly Natives(before), Submarine ride long gone(Nemo next year), People Mover(not gone soon enough, over head still there wonder what they are going to do there?), Buzz Lightyear!

The new major change to me is the addition of the California Adventure park, in what used to be the Disneyland parking lot. The highlight there for me, and my older son, was the Soarin' Over California ride. This is hands down the best simulated flight experience I've seen. The addition of air being blown at you to simulate movement and scents sprayed to match the scenery completes an over the top experience.

It was big bonus that we stayed at the Grand Californian and were able to walk into the park dressed in our jammies(sweats for me, I do have some small shame) to go on the ride just before bedtime. It's a keeper father/son memory.

If you go, get the fastpass, ask to sit in Row B1, wait for the next ride if you have to, it's really worth the wait.
